I have been to this one a few times in the past and I love introducing people to the delicious food the farmers have, so I thought it would be great to take my mother in law over there. It was still hot when we got there and we also had the sun in our eyes for about 45 minutes. Once the sun was hidden behind the mall and the temperature dropped (about 6:30 pm) we decided that was the perfect time to come. But so did everyone else. It was very crowded, and I hate crowds. All the stupid people seem to gather in crowds.
We had a good time still. I bought my son a handmade wooden car. He picked it out, the my MIL tried to get him to buy the truck which had a smaller car on it's flatbed. She was trying to get more for the money in a sense, although that truck and car cost $3 more than the car he picked out. He did grab it when we showed him the bigger one, so I thought OK sure and bought it. But when I put back the car he had picked out he cried and I realized he wanted that one more, so I made the exchange. She meant well in trying to get him more... but sometimes it's not more that is better but it is quality or the fact of wanting a certain item. He wanted that car so it was a much better deal than spending $3 more for a toy that seemed like more in which he wouldn't even enjoy. I always let my son pick his own things out from clothes to toys to food.
We got some strawberries, nectarines, asparagus, and heirloom tomatoes (my favorite). I bought her an heirloom to try, but I don't think she is ready for the farmer's market lifestyle. If she likes the food from the supermarket that's fine, I'm going to stick to the better tasting and chemical free farmer's market food.
We let my son go in the petting zoo as well. He liked the ducks a lot, kinda enjoyed the chickens, and wasn't too sure about the goats. He didn't like the way the goats would come over and shove their faces into the cup of food he had for them. He wanted to feed the ducks instead. I'll have to take him to a lake with ducks o he can feed them soon.
It was fun, entertaining, delicious, and a great experience.
