I think we're smack dab in the middle of the "Why?" stage. He's almost 3. Tonight, after reading his bedtime story, this is the conversation we had... if you can call it a conversation.
"OK, all done. Time for night-night"
"Why?"
"Because, the story is over, and you need rest"
"OK, Mama. You cuddle me?"
"I can't tonight baby."
"Why?"
"I have to go do EBay"
"Why?"
"So I can make us some money."
"Why?"
"We need extra money right now."
"Why?"
"So we can buy you toys, silly."
"Why?"
"Because, we love you."
"Why?"
"Because, you are a cute little boy."
"Why?"
"Because, we made you that way."
"Why?"
"Because, we love each other."
"Oh, OK. Goodnight Mama."
